BECOMING A MEMBER
Becoming a member of the church is really saying, "I love the church! You can count on me to share in the ministry!" We expect that you trust Christ as your personal Savior, and are worshipping regularly with us. We would encourage you to prayerfully consider making First Lutheran your church home. Church membership can be accomplished in several ways.| Transfer: If you are currently an
active member of a Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, you may request a Letter of Transfer
from your home congregation. Affirmation of Faith: If you have been a Lutheran but have not been a member of any Lutheran Church in the past several years, you may speak with one of the pastors, and be received into membership by Affirmation of Faith. Confirmation: Pastor Zimmermann has a class called BASICS I that instructs adults (over the age of 16) in the basics of the Christian faith and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. The class is very informative and will tell you what we believe as Lutherans. Attendance at the classes will enable you to join First Lutheran by the Rite of Adult Confirmation. The class meets on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00 for seven weeks. The current session started April 20th. (See Basics I class ) Associate Membership: Members of other Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, who winter in our area, are encouraged to become Associate Members of First Lutheran Church. The ministry of the Lord is extended to Associate Members just as to any other member, except for membership in the Voters Assembly. Speak with a pastor. |
